Ankita Mishra performs under the moniker

S P R N G V L V T.

Ankita (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist and musician. Using field recordings, voice and personal objects, Mishra communicates through multi-media performances, inviting the audience to redefine ancient tropes through myths and lived experiences.

Guided by potent memories and cultural rediscovery, Mishra explores tactile mediums such as clothing, paint, photography and installation along with poetry and performance as modes of storytelling. Ankita addresses their own queer Indian-American identity while criticizing the growing mandatory performance of identity based work itself.

She is a graduate of the William Esper Studio and is currently working on an interview- based podcast called "Unskilled", which highlights the successes of creative professionals that have foregone traditional education. Ankita is a strong supporter of the anti-caste movement within South Asian diaspora and proudly strives to combat racism, casteism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, trans exclusion, ageism, elitism and xenophobia through their work in non-profits. Their debut album, When The Beauty of the World Fixes Nothing, is out now.

Based in Brooklyn, NY.

Ankita has performed at The Rubin Museum of Art, Ace Hotel New York, C’mon Everybody, Westbeth Community Center, and homegrown venues all across New York State.

As an emerging artist, their performance pieces and visual work have not been shown outside of NYC.

Ankita looks forward to what the next year will bring for collaborations and press.

“Unskilled” Podcast.

6 candid conversations with professional artists that paved their way on their own terms to define success outside the bounds of our academia-obsessed society. Inspired by Ankita’s own life experience and the recent comments by NY Mayor Eric Adams questioning the “skill” of non-salaried workers.
